About Japan Bangladesh Cultural Foundation
She found a large number of problems amongst the people of Bangladesh. Not only in rural areas but also in the capital city Dhaka, the spread and variety of problems are significantly adverse. The authentic scenario of the distress and vulnerable group of the people created quite a different spectacle in her; and consequently the anguish stimulated her to compare the gap between the developed and developing countries. Since impaired health was observed one of the intricate problems among the population, she anticipated to investigate the health condition of the people as well as the existing health care facilities. Visiting a little village under Dohar Upazilla in Dhaka district was her first experience and she was surprised to know that there was only one hospital for 175,842 population. Poor economic status of the people, distance to the health facilities, difficult geographical access, inadequate service and facilities of the hospital has lowered the health care utilization among the people. The same kind of vulnerability was found in education as well. She realized the vulnerability of the population and therefore, felt a necessity to accompanying them in their survival process. After several visits and intensive studies with the health specialists, local doctors, dignitaries, friends and well-wishers, in 2006 she finally managed to establish a free health care center in Dohar Upazilla which is called as the Medical Dialogue and Service (MDS) Project.
